PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin)
A Breakthrough New Procedure
What is PRF?
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a new technique in regenerative medicine that benefits many patients. PRF is a mixture of cytokines, growth factors, and cells that are harvested from the patient’s blood. Blood is spun to form a clot with regenerative potential.
What is PRF used for?
- Prevention of dry sockets after wisdom tooth removal
- Regeneration of bone after tooth removal
- Soft tissue grafting
- Regeneration of bone after removal of cysts and other maxillofacial pathology
- Closure of oroantral communication/fistula
- Sinus lifts – PRF placed over sinus membrane
- Cosmetics/Skincare – Injectable PRF used for hair and skin rejuvenation and treatment of deep
scarring and skin hyperpigmentation
How is the PRF procedure performed?
- Blood Extraction - draw a small amount of blood through a virtually painless procedure
- Blood Centrifugation - blood is processed in a centrifuge to produce PRF
- PRF Collection & Injection - The PRF will be collected and injected into the treatment areas
Why use PRF?
Patients are benefiting from PRF in surgical applications by increasing post-operative comfort to assisting in the regeneration of natural tissues
- Significant decrease in patient discomfort.
PRF has been shown to reduce complications and restrictions a patient may experience. The result is a notable decrease in discomfort, post-surgical pain, and post-operation bleeding.
- It’s 100% natural and safe and easy to produce.
PRF is derived from a patient’s blood. PRF does not require anticoagulants, bovine thrombin, or any other foreign materials or chemicals. Patients have nearly zero risk of a foreign body reaction.
- PRF has been shown to result in significantly faster healing.
This process generates a fibrin network that leads to more efficient cell migration and faster cell regeneration.
